Abstract

The success of educators in enhancing their professionalism while carrying out their duties is largely determined by the principal's strategies. As a leader, the principal must be capable of guiding and supervising educators to foster their professional growth; therefore, the principal must possess specific strategies to enhance educator professionalism. With such strategies in place, educators will demonstrate professionalism in their teaching and learning activities at the school. The objectives of this study are (1) to identify and analyse the principal's strategies for enhancing educator professionalism; (2) to identify and analyse the implications of these strategies; and (3) to identify and analyse the supporting and inhibiting factors regarding the principal's strategies for enhancing teacher professionalism at SMK Pertiwi Cibungbulang, Bogor. This study employs a qualitative approach, specifically descriptive qualitative research. Data analysis follows the framework of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, involving data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The study results indicate that: (1) The principal's strategies for enhancing teacher professionalism at SMK Pertiwi Cibungbulang, Bogor, involve formal measures—such as education and training, workshops, seminars, supervision, meetings, and opportunities for further study—and informal measures, such as fostering self-motivation and discipline, implementing reward and punishment systems, and utilising the principal's managerial capabilities to influence educator performance. (2) The implications of the principal's leadership strategies at SMK Pertiwi Cibungbulang Bogor are evident in both outputs and outcomes. The outputs include educators applying the knowledge gained during training and an increase in student achievement across both academic and non-academic fields.
