ANALISIS KEPEMIMPINAN DAN LINGKUNGAN KERJA TERHADAP KINERJA PEGAWAI DENGAN MEDIASI MOTIVASI KERJA PADA UNIVERSITAS CENDEKIA ABDITAMA KABUPATEN TANGERANG
Abstract
This study aims to analyse the effect of leadership and work environment on employee performance with work motivation as a mediating variable at Cendekia Abditama University, Tangerang Regency. A quantitative approach was applied using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS 4.0 to examine both direct and indirect relationships among latent variables. A sample of 65 respondents was selected from a population of 153 permanent staff members (102 lecturers, 20 educational staff, and 31 support staff) using Slovin's formula with a 10% margin of error and proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were gathered through a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire, validated for accuracy and reliability. The results revealed that (1) leadership has a positive and significant effect on work motivation; (2) work environment has a positive and significant effect on work motivation; (3) leadership has no significant direct effect on employee performance; (4) work environment significantly and positively affects employee performance; (5) work motivation successfully mediates the relationship between leadership and employee performance; and (6) work motivation does not mediate the relationship between work environment and employee performance. These findings highlight the strategic necessity for university management to cultivate transformational leadership and optimise supportive academic work environments.
