Abstract

Low competence among several Qur'an teachers regarding tajwid mastery, fluency, and articulation creates a competency gap against professional standards. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of a Qur'anic recitation upgrading program based on the Ummi Method as a human resource development strategy at MIS Karya Pembangunan, Murung Raya Regency. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving 10 key informants, then analyzed via the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana interactive model. Findings reveal that initial teacher competence was inconsistent prior to intervention. Through a systematically structured upgrading process encompassing tashih, tahsin, advanced tahsin, coaching, and supervision, significant improvements were achieved in teachers' professional competence, technical recitation accuracy, and pedagogical classroom management. Intrinsic motivation and institutional support acted as primary drivers, whereas time constraints formed main challenges. This upgrading program serves as an effective training and development model for Qur'anic education quality.
