AUTHOR GUIDELINES

UNISTEK (Jurnal Pendidikan dan Aplikasi Teknik)

UNISTEK welcomes original, high-quality scholarly manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of engineering science, technology, and practical applications. The journal publishes research relevant to Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Informatics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and related interdisciplinary fields.

All submitted manuscripts must comply with the journal's editorial policies, authorship requirements, publication ethics, and peer-review procedures.

1. Manuscript Types

UNISTEK accepts the following types of scholarly manuscripts:

1.1. Original Research Articles

Original Research Articles present novel findings derived from theoretical analyses, experimental investigations, numerical simulations, computational methods, or empirical studies.

Manuscripts must clearly describe the research objectives, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusions. The findings should demonstrate originality and provide meaningful contributions to scientific knowledge, technological development, or engineering practice.

1.2. Review Articles

Review Articles provide comprehensive and critical evaluations of existing scholarly literature on specific topics within the journal's scope.

These manuscripts should synthesize previous research findings, identify knowledge gaps, examine current developments, and highlight potential directions for future research.

Review articles must demonstrate a systematic and analytical approach rather than merely summarize previously published studies.

1.3. Case Studies and Engineering Applications

Case Studies and Engineering Applications present detailed investigations of practical engineering problems, industrial processes, technological implementations, infrastructure systems, or applied engineering solutions.

These manuscripts should include clear methodological explanations, evidence-based findings, and discussions of practical implications.

The reported findings should contribute to engineering research, professional practice, industrial development, or technological innovation.

1.4. General Manuscript Requirements

All manuscripts submitted to UNISTEK must meet the following requirements:

  1. The manuscript must be original and relevant to the journal's aims and scope.

  2. The manuscript must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  3. The manuscript must comply with the journal's author guidelines and publication ethics policies.

  4. The manuscript must demonstrate appropriate methodological rigor, scientific quality, and academic integrity.

  5. Authors must submit a completed and signed Author Statement Letter as part of the manuscript submission requirements.

  6. All submissions are subject to initial editorial screening and peer review.

Acceptance for publication is based on the manuscript's originality, scientific merit, methodological quality, relevance, and contribution to engineering knowledge and practice.

The editorial team reserves the right to determine the appropriate manuscript category for each submission.

2. Authorship Criteria and Responsibilities

UNISTEK is committed to maintaining academic integrity, transparency, and accountability in scholarly authorship.

Authorship must accurately reflect substantial intellectual contributions to the research and preparation of the manuscript.

2.1. Authorship Eligibility

To qualify as an author, an individual must meet all of the following criteria:

  1. Substantial Contribution: Make significant contributions to the conception or design of the study, data collection, analysis, interpretation, or research methodology.

  2. Manuscript Preparation: Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.

  3. Final Approval: Review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission and publication.

  4. Accountability: Accept responsibility for their scholarly contributions and cooperate in addressing questions concerning the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the research.

All individuals listed as authors must satisfy these criteria.

Contributions limited to funding acquisition, administrative assistance, technical support, or general supervision do not automatically qualify an individual for authorship. Such contributions should be appropriately acknowledged when relevant.

2.2. Corresponding Author Responsibilities

The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that:

  • All listed authors have made qualifying contributions to the manuscript.

  • All authors have reviewed and approved the submitted version.

  • All authors have agreed to the manuscript's submission to UNISTEK.

  • The authorship information and declared contributions are accurate.

  • Communication with the editorial team is appropriately coordinated throughout the editorial and publication process.

2.3. Author Statement Letter

All authors are required to submit an Author Statement Letter confirming the originality of the manuscript, authorship agreement, and compliance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

The statement must confirm that:

  1. The manuscript is original and has not been previously published.

  2. The manuscript is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.

  3. All listed authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript.

  4. All authors agree to the submission and publication policies of UNISTEK.

The completed and signed Author Statement Letter must be uploaded as a supplementary file during the manuscript submission process.

2.4. Authorship Changes and Misconduct

UNISTEK does not permit gift authorship, ghost authorship, or unauthorized authorship.

Any proposed change to the author list or author order after submission must be accompanied by a written justification and the agreement of all affected authors.

Such changes are subject to approval by the editorial team.

2.5. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot assume responsibility or accountability for scholarly work.

Authors remain fully responsible for the originality, accuracy, reliability, and integrity of all manuscript content, including material produced or assisted by AI tools.

The use of AI tools must be disclosed when required by the journal's applicable policies.

3. Copyright Notice

Authors who publish their articles in UNISTEK retain the copyright to their scholarly works while granting the journal the right of first publication.

All published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

Under this license, users may share and adapt published materials for non-commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), the initial publication in UNISTEK is acknowledged, and any derivative works are distributed under the same license.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • Their submitted manuscripts are original.

  • Their works do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of third parties.

  • All copyrighted materials included in their manuscripts have been used with appropriate permission or under applicable legal exceptions.

  • Their manuscripts comply with applicable copyright regulations and publication ethics requirements.

By submitting a manuscript to UNISTEK, authors acknowledge and agree to the journal's copyright and licensing policies.

4. Licensing Policy

All articles published in UNISTEK are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).

This license allows users to access, share, and adapt published scholarly works under the following conditions.

4.1. Permitted Uses

Users are free to:

  • Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.

  • Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material.

4.2. License Conditions

The permitted uses are subject to the following requirements:

Attribution (BY)

Users must provide appropriate credit to the original author(s), include a link to the applicable Creative Commons license, and indicate whether any changes have been made.

Attribution must not imply endorsement by the original author(s) or UNISTEK.

NonCommercial (NC)

Published material may not be used for commercial purposes.

ShareAlike (SA)

If users remix, transform, or build upon the published material, the resulting work must be distributed under the same license as the original.

4.3. Additional Restrictions

Users may not impose additional legal terms or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising the rights granted by the license.

The licensing terms apply to published articles and other materials covered by the applicable license. Third-party materials may be subject to separate copyright or licensing arrangements.

5. Post-Publication Discussion

UNISTEK encourages constructive scholarly discussion and scientific exchange following the publication of research articles.

Post-publication discussion plays an important role in advancing scientific knowledge, promoting transparency, strengthening scholarly communication, and maintaining the integrity of published research.

5.1. Submission of Scholarly Comments

Readers, researchers, and members of the academic community may submit comments, questions, or critical responses regarding articles published in UNISTEK.

All contributions must:

  • Be relevant to the published research.

  • Be supported by appropriate scientific reasoning or evidence.

  • Demonstrate academic objectivity.

  • Be expressed professionally and respectfully.

  • Comply with the journal's publication ethics policies.

5.2. Editorial Assessment

All submissions for post-publication discussion are subject to editorial evaluation.

The editorial team assesses the relevance, scientific merit, originality, and ethical compliance of submitted contributions.

When appropriate, the editor may invite the original author(s) to respond to the discussion before deciding whether the submitted discussion or response should be published.

The editorial team reserves the right to accept, request revisions to, or reject submissions for post-publication discussion.

5.3. Ethical Considerations

Post-publication discussions must be evidence-based and must not contain defamatory statements, personal attacks, or unsupported allegations.

Concerns relating to research misconduct, significant errors, or ethical violations will be handled in accordance with the journal's publication ethics and correction or retraction policies.

Where necessary, UNISTEK may publish a correction, editorial note, or retraction following an appropriate editorial assessment.

All editorial decisions are made to maintain academic integrity, fairness, transparency, and the quality of scholarly communication.

6. Corrections and Retractions Policy

UNISTEK is committed to maintaining the accuracy, reliability, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record.

When errors or serious concerns are identified in published articles, the journal may take appropriate editorial action in accordance with established publication ethics standards.

6.1. Corrections

Corrections may be issued when an article contains errors that affect its accuracy, clarity, or presentation but do not invalidate the principal findings or conclusions.

Authors are encouraged to promptly inform the editorial team if errors are identified after publication.

Following editorial assessment, approved corrections will be published and linked to the original article to ensure transparency and maintain the accuracy of the scholarly record.

6.2. Retractions

A published article may be retracted when serious problems compromise the reliability or integrity of its findings.

Grounds for retraction may include:

  • Plagiarism.

  • Data fabrication or falsification.

  • Duplicate publication.

  • Major methodological or analytical errors that invalidate the research findings.

  • Other serious issues affecting the integrity or reliability of the published work.

Retraction decisions are made following an appropriate editorial assessment and, when necessary, consultation with relevant parties.

6.3. Editorial Procedures

UNISTEK handles correction and retraction requests fairly, transparently, and in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.

When an article is retracted, the journal will publish a retraction notice explaining the reasons for the decision.

The retraction notice will be linked to the original article, which will generally remain accessible with a clear indication of its retracted status.

The Editor-in-Chief holds final responsibility for decisions concerning corrections and retractions in accordance with established scholarly publishing standards.

7. Electronic Filing and Archiving Policy

UNISTEK is committed to supporting the long-term preservation, accessibility, authenticity, and integrity of its published scholarly content.

The journal recognizes the importance of digital archiving in safeguarding scholarly publications against data loss and ensuring continued access for researchers, practitioners, and the academic community.

7.1. Digital Preservation

UNISTEK supports appropriate digital preservation practices and encourages the use of recognized preservation systems, including:

  • LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): A distributed digital preservation system designed to maintain accessible copies of scholarly publications.

  • CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): A collaborative digital preservation system supporting the long-term preservation and availability of scholarly content.

These systems are recognized as mechanisms for supporting the preservation and continued availability of digital scholarly records.

7.2. Long-Term Accessibility

Through appropriate digital archiving arrangements, UNISTEK aims to:

  • Preserve the integrity and authenticity of published articles.

  • Minimize the risk of permanent scholarly data loss.

  • Support the continued accessibility of published research.

  • Maintain reliable scholarly records for future researchers and readers.
